Olivier Award-winning choreographer Damien Jalet, who is renowned for choreographing Hussein Chalayan’s Gravity Fatigue in 2015, teams up with the amazing and magnificent Kohei Nawa, an experimental Japanese sculptor who enjoys blurring the lines between the human body and its surrounding habitat.
Taking inspiration from the composition of the human body, which is made up of mostly water, Jalet and Nawa have created a flooded stage on which semi-nude dancers prance and inhabit. With the water creating a mirror-like surface, you will be captivated by the living reflections of the dancers' every move.
Damien Jalet & Kohei Nawa: Vessel features a bone-chilling electronic score by Ryuichi Sakamoto and Marihiko Hara that is juxtaposed with seven living beings, who perform bizarre ritualistic dances as they explore the organic vessel that floats elegantly atop the water. By merging to form a new hybrid species, an eye-popping cycle of life and death emerges.
Don't miss this stupendous new production. Tickets to Vessel at Sadler's Wells are limited. Book now to avoid disappointment.
