Ben Platt protagonizará el estreno en Reino Unido de Midnight at the Never Get

Ben Platt (Pitch Perfect, The Politician) protagonizará el estreno en Reino Unido de Midnight at the Never Get, que se estrenará este verano en el Menier Chocolate Factory. El musical, escrito por Mark Sonnenblick de KPop Demon Hunters, marca la primera vez que el actor ganador del Tony protagoniza una temporada completa en la capital.
Platt fue la primera en el papel principal en Dear Evan Hansen en Broadway, y retomó el personaje en la adaptación cinematográfica de 2021. Platt, habitual en Estados Unidos, solo había cruzado el Atlántico para actuaciones puntuales, como la próxima y agotada puesta en escena de The Last Five Years junto a la estrella de Evita, Rachel Zegler.
Hablando sobre el anuncio de hoy, Platt dijo: "Estoy encantado de realizar mi primera temporada completa en el escenario londinense del Menier, que se transforma en el ambiente de club nocturno de The Never Get. Es realmente maravilloso trabajar con Mark, que no solo es un compositor genial, sino que también se ha convertido en un verdadero amigo. Es una pieza muy especial, mi primer musical totalmente original desde **Dear Evan Hansen, y esperamos trabajar con el talentoso generacional David Cromer para crear esta experiencia singular."
Sonnenblick added, “This show means a tremendous amount to me and it’s a gift to collaborate with Ben again – he’s a once-in-a-generation performer. I can’t wait for audiences to experience his performance in the beautifully intimate theatre at the Menier. It’s also a huge privilege to work with the brilliant David Cromer as we realize the piece afresh for its U.K. premiere.”
Set in 1960s New York, Midnight at the Never Get follows Trevor Copeland and Arthur Brightman whose onstage partnership at a nightclub evolves into a private romantic relationship.
The story will unfold at the intimate Menier Chocolate Factory, whose seating capacity is less than 10% of the London Palladium’s (where Platt will be performing in The Last Five Years). It’s an unusually intimate setting for an actor of Platt’s profile, and will be a rare treat for anyone lucky enough to get tickets.
Midnight at the Never Get plays at the Menier Chocolate Factory from 20 July until 12 September 2026.
