The hit film "Yesterday" to be turned in to a stage musical

The 2019 film Yesterday is to be adapted into a stage musical, with a casting call been released for the lead role.
Featuring songs from The Beatles, the film - which starred Himesh Patel and Lily James - follows a struggling musician named Jack who wakes up after an accident and finds that no one in the world except for him remembers the hig band, allowing him to rise to stardom by singing their songs.
The musical will be directed by Danny Boyle, written by Richard Curtis and Emma Freud (responsible for the original film), and will be produced by Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner. It has been 15 years since Boyle last directed for the stage, with the the last time being the National Theatre production of Frankenstein.
The casting call has been issued by Nick Hockaday (one of the award-winning team behind Paddington The Musical) on behalf of Jessica Ronane Casting, seeking a male performer aged between 25 and 35 to play the leading role of Jack. Applicants of all ethnicities are encouraged to apply.
