Un garçon de seize ans, accompagné d’un zèbre, d’une hyène, d’un orang-outan et d’un tigre du Bengale affamé, sont laissés à la merci de la nature, qui est dure et indulgente. Le temps joue contre eux et ils n’ont qu’une mission ; pour survivre. Comme le livre et le film éponyme de 2012, c’est une aventure épique pleine d’espoir, qui met leur endurance à l’épreuve et pousse leurs limits.
Life of Pi est un roman de renommée mondiale de Yann Martel, qui, avant de devenir un best-seller international et de se vendre à plus de quinze millions d’exemplaires dans le monde, a en réalité été rejeté par cinq maisons d’édition avant d’être accepté et publié par Knopf Canada en 2001. Le film de 2012 produit par Fox 2000 Pictures, dont le scénario était adapté écrit par David Magee et réalisé par Ang Lee, a rencontré un immense succès. Le film a été nommé à trois Golden Globes et onze Oscars ; dont quatre victoires. Grâce au succès combiné du roman et du film, Life of Pi s’est imposé comme un nom connu de tous, l’adaptation théâtrale étant très attendue rien que pour ce nom.
L’adaptation scénique est réalisée par Lolita Chakrabarti avec Max Webster à la réalisation. Life of Pi est produite par Sheffield Theatres et a été créée au prestigieux Sheffield Crucible où elle a reçu des critiques élogieuses.

The highly anticipated (even more so than usual) Olivier Awards are back! Yesterday, Sunday 10 April 2022, they celebrated with an illustrious ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall. Winners were announced, nominees were commended, and theatre overall was celebrated (which it should be now more than ever). There were wonderful performances including a special tribute to Stephen Sondheim, which showcased the incredible alternates, understudies and swings that have been the backbone of theatre, especially in its return.

Having read and thoroughly enjoyed Life of Pi (the novel) a few years ago, I wanted to see if the transition from book to stage would be as flawless as my imagination had painted it to be. Following a sell-out run at Sheffield’s Crucible Theatre, and with almost the full original cast, Lolita Chakrabarti's adaptation has hit the Wyndham’s Theatre, receiving rave reviews. The cast and creatives are the heart of this and it is clear that intricate thought and detail has gone into this production.
